Margaritaville (Brooklyn branch)

Just because it’s almost July, and my summer memories are working overtime…

I was going through some photos and came upon this 2017 pic. It’s yours truly, relaxing outdoors at a little neighbourhood nook called Pedro’s, a bar & restaurant in Brooklyn, N.Y. Thanks to my daughter-in-law Lucy (Jeremy‘s wife), who snapped me between sips.

This lively place is at the Jay/Front St. intersection in the flourishing area called DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass).

Here’s an almost-bird’s-eye-view of Pedro’s, seen at centre-right:

This shot was taken from the 8th-floor window of Lucy and Jeremy’s former condo, when I was there a few years ago. (They now live in Southampton.)

My son Jeremy and his wife Lucy in a good-lookin’ selfie:

I last saw them in November but miss them already. I also miss my granddog Lolo… and yes, Pedro’s.

      1. Do you remember Lake Dunmore and the road trips we went on when we were kids? Lake Dunmore made a huge impression on me. One rainy day your Mom, my dear Auntie Ida invited me to play kanasta with the grownups. I think it was the first time I was allowed to join the older generation. I was thrilled and loved my favourite aunt even more ever after.

        1. Omigosh yes!! I loved it at LD too, and all the other trips together!! Wow, I didn’t know you got that amazing invitation! How old were you – 10? 12? Aw, such sweet memories!

  1. Thank you, Ellie. Enjoyed your story and the great photo of you. I also have good memories of NY and Brooklyn. Our daughter, Laura, lived there for 5 years, in Bushwick, became married to her Canadian boyfriend who had moved with her, and they had their first of two children,Theo, who’s now 10. We visited as often as we could. I miss going there, but as we now live just a klic away from them, am blessed with seeing them often. But do love New York.
