Poems for Li’l Kids #6 – Things I Love and Hate

Sixth in a series of fun poems for young kiddies. This was actually a song I wrote back in 1981 for my son who was a little tyke back then. No matter! You can make up your own tune, if you’re so inclined. 🙂

Things I Love and Hate

I like baseball
I like football
I like soccer too,
I like hockey
I like tennis
I like basketball too.

Sports, sports
I love them all
I want to be an athlete,
Sports, sports
I love them all
As long as I don’t get beat!

I hate cucumber
I hate lettuce
I hate green beans too,
I hate peas
I hate cauliflower
I hate onions too.

Vegetables, vegetables
Yuck yuck yuck
Green and yellow slimy too,
Vegetables, vegetables
I hate them all
Yucky, mushy goo!

I love Fonzie
I love sports cars
I love pinball too,
I love roller skates
I love Rubik’s cubes
I love all things cool.

Cool, cool
I love things cool
Clever and fun and not stupid,
Cool, cool
I love things cool
‘Cause I’m a real cool kid!

N.B. You may have noticed how out of date some of the items in the last verse are: Fonzie! Pinball! Rubik’s cubes?! Ha, I guess you’ll have to explain these to your kids! Sorry ’bout that! 😀

Oh, and by the way: My son now eats an even greater variety of vegetables than I do! Go figure, eh?

    1. Anne, you may have figured out by now that all the comments on here by “tripill” are from my son, Jeremy. He uses that alias all the time. I forget why; I asked him once years ago but I forget the answer. Tsk. I’m such a bad mom! 😀
