Friday Follies is changing it up once again! This is due to the very busy week the Grammar Cop just had – which means there was less time for reading and finding gaffes for you. So instead, she will share with you a partial list of words that are often mistaken for each other, borrowed from a book I just happen to have on hand. I don’t think I’ll get sued, as I’m giving full credit* to the person who compiled the list. Here goes:
The Kids are All Right

These pictures have something in common. I mean, besides the fact that they show my two children at different ages. What they depict are my daughter, Kathryn, and son, Jeremy, out on the town without me. To be more precise, they are with their father.
Friday Follies #38 – 4 mistakes that make me go “Arghhh”!
The Grammar Cop is despondent seeing these same instances of confusion over and over again. But she is always on guard, and vows to bring them to the fore as often as possible!
Stuck in Beginners B Forever!
I have such fond memories of the Hampton Street YMCA! Also known as the NDG Y, due to its location in the leafy Montreal borough of Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, it was my second home during the summers when I was eight, nine and ten years old.
Friday Follies #37 – spelling mistakes that make me go “Arghhh”!
The Grammar Cop is continuing to switch things up a little in the Friday Follies Field of Flaws. Today’s gaffes focus on spelling.
Food, Glorious Food!

The Last Gasp
Quitting smoking: one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life… and also, paradoxically, one of the easiest.
Friday Follies #36 – repeated mistakes that make me go “Arghhh”!
Hi concerned readers! Today’s FFs will feature something a tad different. Instead of shaming various media for specific grammatical/spelling errors seen the previous week (as in all preceding 35 FF posts), the Grammar Cop is going to rant about another bunch of FFs.
Let’s allow pets in seniors’ residences!
Now look. There should be no argument about this. Studies have absolutely proven the benefits to older adults living with their beloved pets. Here are a few, borrowed from http://www.petsfortheelderly.org/articles.html:
A Letter to Lily June on her First Birthday
Dear Lily June,
At the risk of appropriating your mother’s salutation for her own online letters to you, just let me say that I’m responding in a humble way to her request for letters – letters to be addressed to you, in honour of your upcoming first birthday.
