My son, the Emmy winner

A little while ago, my son, Jeremy Presner, was nominated for an Emmy!

I was incredibly proud and thrilled for him! The nomination was for Outstanding Editing, News. The show he edited was an episode of Trafficked with Mariana Van Zeller; it was called Ghost Guns (Season 3, Episode 3., for National Geographic and Hulu). You can see his name in the Ghost Guns list of credits under “Editing by.”

The series looks at the black market in various worlds that don’t normally afford us a glimpse into their inner workings – mainly because of their illegal or semi-illegal activities.

So he was an Emmy nominee. But wow, he was up against some serious competition. Here’s the official list. (Note that the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences doesn’t put the name of the actual editor there. But we knew Jeremy was up for Ghost Guns!)

Oh wait! That image is really hard to read, and if I enlarge it, it’ll be too blurry. Here’s the list of nominations:

Ghost Guns

MDMA

With such stellar competition for the editing award, I tried not to hope too much. Most of all, I didn’t want Jeremy to feel disappointed if he didn’t win. I know he’s truly an amazing editor, yet I was tense with apprehension up until the ceremony (which my husband John and I were able to watch on TV, thanks to our “Fire Stick).”

On the big day, off he went to the venue in NYC, the Palladium Times Square.

The ceremony began; many categories, names, video clips and speeches later, they got to the Editing category and announced the winner:

“The #NewsEmmys Award for Outstanding Editing: News goes to Ghost Guns | @MarianaVZ (@natgeo).”

OMG! HE WON!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!

Here’s a clip from the episode:

More information and clips – as well as a link to the entire episode – are on Jeremy’s website. (While there, you can also take a peek at his other wonderful work, if you’re so inclined! 😀)

My son, the Emmy winner!! Maybe that was what he wished for back when he was 8, below! After all, he fell in love with movies when I took him to see the premiere of Star Wars here in Montreal!
