Friday Follies #3 – 4 mistakes that make me go “Arghhh”!

Okay people, here are this week’s goofs that caught my attention – unfortunately! This Grammar Cop never sleeps!

  1. “…won’t have any affect (on)…” – TOPSECRETWRITERS.COM (I read ’em all, haha!)  That’s EFFECT, not affect!
  2. “…the transcripts were publically available…” – NATIONAL LAW REVIEW “Publically”?? Ewwww!  Must’ve been transcripts that were “publical.”
  3. “…without any care for the bird and it’s welfare…” – MONTREAL GAZETTE (Letter to the editor) No comment!
  4. “Now, with a playoff birth likely, the Jays and their fans…” – MONTREAL GAZETTE (Letter to the editor) Will a baby be born in the outfield?

Arghhhhh!

  1. Haha, love this… the words ‘egg’ and ‘house’ in the Arabic language use the exact same letters bar the last one. So today an Arabic news channel had some headlines at the bottom of the screen one of which read; ‘Latest from the egg of white’ what they meant of course was ‘the house of white’ which is what they call the White House in Arabic. I laughed so much 😂
