What a magical evening! I’m still smiling as I recall the event. Here are a few highlights.
First of all, kudos and many thanks to my amazing daughter, Kathryn, who drove all the way across town in rush-hour traffic to pick up me and my books and take us to the library for the reading. She made it in a little over half an hour, which leads me to believe she hitched a ride with the local weather helicopter. ๐ Thank you so much, Kathryn! She also took the video and pics below, and I’m truly forever in her debt!
Here’s the flyer which the library had put up a couple of weeks ago, advertising the event.
Before we began our readings, some official photos were taken of us at the back of the room as the hall was starting to fill up. Kathryn snapped a photo of this:
To open the evening, Mayor Mitchell Brownstein gave a spiel about Cote St. Luc and how proud they were to present some local authors to the community. Here he is, Hizzoner himself:
And here I am, trembling a tad, waiting my turn. I was to read an excerpt from my memoir, Surviving Hollywood North: Crew Confessions from an Insider. The fellow to my left is Allan Weiss, one of the other three authors.
My turn! Here’s the video Kathryn recorded on my phone. In the beginning I was explaining how I felt like I was back in Grade 10, when I had to give a speech and found I was practically shorter than the podium. Ay yi.
Whew! A relief to be finished. And then, some books for sale! ๐
One last note: my books are available on Amazon in many countries (in English).
How exciting! I loved the reading. And will buy your book to find out what happened next! ๐

I’m cringing, because I can’t stand to hear myself talk. You may have heard me sing. I recorded “Hot Cross Buns” for the blog a few months ago.

Loved the video and to finally put a voice to the face. I’m so happy that you chose the Prologue to read to the audience because it’s about The Great Patrick McGoohan. I think it’s time for me to re-read your book and to look at the lovely photos you took of Patrick & his family. You are so brave to not only write books, but to also speak in front of a live audience. Good job, Ellie!

Oh thanks!! Yes yes, it *had* to be the Prologue! As I just told someone on FB, the photos are SO much nicer in the eBook version, as they’re in colour and are sharper. You should get it – it’s no more than the price of a fancy coffee! ๐ Link below! Re speaking, I was only able to do it because most of it was a READing. I don’t think I could just give a speech, you know? I dunno. Also I felt comfy ’cause I felt so comfy with the material! xox Thanks so much!!
